‘Living in the Gaps’ Symposium (2023)

In March 2023 we ran a free online symposium, called “Living in the Gaps”.

We invited people with lived experience of illness, disability, or other health needs, to share in interactive seminars, workshops, and discussion – presenting some of our findings, and connecting different groups with each other, in order to stimulate conversations about barriers, and ways forward, in Aotearoa’s current healthcare system.

We worked with the League of Live Illustrators to capture some of the wonderful conversation that unfolded, during the event, in a graphic form… and are excited to share the results below (or find shareable versions, with full image descriptions, here)

CREATIVE WORKSHOPS

We also provided four different creative workshops: on Toi Māori (run by Heramaahina Eketone), Zine-making (by Helen Yeung), Comic and Drawing (Sam Orchard), and Writing (Catherine Trundle).
